A year or so back, I wrote a story. It was a story about who we are, and what we have become as a society. It was pretentious and heady and sophomoric. I sent it in to the Writers of the Future contest.
It didn’t win.
But I wasn’t done with the strange idea of a city inside an asteroid, and the detective striving to solve two interlocking mysteries. I rewrote it from the beginning, polished and revised it, and submitted again. This time, it earned an honorable mention, my first in the contest. Satisfied for the time being, I put the story aside, and started on another strange tale.
But I never forgot about Memphis. I hoped that someday I would see it in print.
That day is almost here.
I’m excited to announce that my story “The Miasma of Memphis³” is part of a new anthology, HYPERSLEEP NIGHTMARES, a collection of interstellar horror stories, in the vein of Alien, Predator, or Pitch Black. It’s one of the first books put out by Propaganda Press, an Indie publisher with a lot of energy and grit.
The kindle edition is available for pre-order now, with a paperback soon to follow. The e-book goes live on Halloween—October 31st. If you love horror, and are ok sleeping with the light on for a week, head over to Amazon and pick it up HERE.
